Project Overview

Pructon was engaged by Northern Oil to undertake the Tank Farm 4 Expansion Project at their Yarwun facility in Queensland. This extensive project encompasses the design, fabrication and installation of critical equipment and associated infrastructure within Load Bay 4 and Tank Farm 4. The purpose of the project is to expand capacity and optimise operational efficiency by introducing three new tanks, all installed by Pructon.

Scope of Work

  • Tank Installation and Cladding: Installation of two tanks with custom cladding, precision-placed anchor bolts, and grouting to specified standards.
  • Pipework and Pump Installation: Fabricated and installed pressfit piping, valves, strainers, and carbon steel pipes with a three-coat paint system. Pumps were installed, grouted, and prepared for dry commissioning.
  • Safety Shower Installation: Installed a compliant safety shower system, including trenching, pipework, concreting and insulation for above-ground pipes exposed to sunlight.
  • Pump Pit and Access Infrastructure: Designed and installed a pump pit area with custom penetration points in meshing for maximum operational efficiency and to client specifications.
  • Pipe Supports: Supplied and fabricated pipe supports painted to specification and installed lighting tower support steelworks.
  • MCC Platform Extension: Extended the MCC platform to support additional infrastructure, including a new MCC and relocated stairs.
  • Bund Wall Stairs: Fabricated and installed two over-bund staircases compliant with NCC2022 standards to improve site accessibility.

Outcomes and Benefits

  • Increased Operational Capacity: Expanded infrastructure to accommodate greater output and enhanced efficiency at the Yarwun facility.
  • Enhanced Safety Standards: Added safety shower systems and compliant access structures, ensuring operational safety.
  • Streamlined Operations: Custom-designed platforms, stairs, and piping systems to improve on-site functionality and maintenance accessibility.
  • Sustainable Scalability: Upgraded infrastructure aligns with Northern Oil’s long-term strategic goals for growth and sustainability.
